Good article here about Wright. Personally don’t know what to make of him. Good player on his day can beat anybody, regularly having averages or around 100+. Hate to agree with Mardle but he needs to stick with one set of darts and be done with it.

Peter Wright insists he will continue to try out different darts during the 2015 Premier League season according to the conditions of each venue.

Wright has become renowned for regularly changing his darting setup and has come under fire from critics who believe it is having a negative impact on his game.

The Scottish star suffered a crushing 7-1 defeat at the hands of Dave Chisnall opening night in Leeds, ending on an average of just 87.20.

Colourful thrower Wright, however, has vowed to continue experimenting with numerous darts combinations.

"I brought four sets with me to Leeds," Wright told Live Darts.

"It depends on the venue and the atmosphere as to which I go with, that's the way I look at it.

"A golfer uses different clubs if there's a bit of wind around, so why shouldn't we use a different dart?

"It also depends how I feel on the night as to whether I need to throw a heavier dart, a lighter dart, or a different shaped barrel."

Sky Sports analyst Wayne Mardle is among those sceptical of 'Snakebite's' decision to tinker with his tungsten, and said follow the defeat to Chisnall: "For me, he's got to stop changing darts for a start.

"In Milton Keynes, he was using short, thick-barrelled darts, then he went back to what I would regard as his normal darts - the ones he played well with in the World Championship two years ago.

"If you keep changing, you're going to get found out. He's got no routine and he's got to bet back into a routine of using the same darts," added the four-time Premier League competitor.

Wright is without doubt the most vibrant character ever to grace the Premier League stage and is in the midst of his second campaign after an impressive debut 12 months ago.

The former World Championship finalist has enjoyed a rapid rise up the world rankings in recent years, capturing the imagination of a global fanbase in the process.

Having narrowly missed out on a play-off place last year despite occupying a top four spot for much of the season, Wright is determined to reach the O2 this time around, and has talked up his chances in 2015.

"I want to win everything this year," he added.

"I want to win the Premier League, but the first target for me is to get in the play-offs this time.

"I've learned how to prepare myself for these long 16 weeks, I feel a lot fresher and prepared mentally for the tough road ahead.

"I used to sit and watch the Premier League on telly and think to myself that must be amazing to play in front of crowds that big.

"I experienced it last year, luckily enough, and I'm here again and it is the best experience a darts player can possibly have."

I think Wright is running out of steam a bit. He made a big impact at the Worlds 2 years ago and had a great start to the PL but since he hasn't make much of an impression, he went out of a lot of tournaments fairly early last year - (beaten 6-2 by Lewis yesterday in the 3rd round).

He's a solid mid table kind of player but a long way behind the top players. When the big boys hit averages of 105-110 then Wright just can't keep up. Whether thats the darts or not I don't know but probably has a part to play.

Does wright wear the colourful clothes and get the wig dyed for the floor tournaments?

I agree with grammar that the steam's went out of Wright a bit but for the life of me I can not understand how anyone can put Mardle in a position to criticise anyone.

Mack - its not a wig. His wife's a hairdresser & does it for usually each individual day of a tv tournament. Not sure about floor events, I imagine he would still go with the clothes though

They're temporary, some kind of sticker I think.

While his hairstyle and dress-sense remain a bit garish his darts are getting a bit better the last few weeks.
