Render/Paint for a concrete/house with pebbledash

New here,

I have a mass concrete house with pebble dash ( those corporation ones that are all over Dublin) in drumcondra, I am currently dry-lining the inside with breathable insulation board straight onto the wall.

However I understand that there maybe paints or renders that I can put on the outside that stop the wall absorbing water,

Does anyone know if this is true, or what have any suggestions as to what to do with the outside apart from external insulation.
