Dealing with classmate situation

    Hi guys,

I'm an 18 year old guy in a smallish college. I knew no one in the college before I started in autumn and all my friends are in my design course here. Basically I was attracted to one girl from the start but I didn't intend to act because I didn't want to risk losing any of the few friends I had especially when we're due to spend the next three years together.

Anyway once I got to know her, the attraction became way stronger but the way we talk to each other I just know the feeling isn't mutual. I think I exemplify the friendzone even though I'm not a compete walkover or anything.

What's making this so hard for me to deal with was I really amn't the sort of guy who falls for many girls and I find it hard to find someone like me but this girl is just different.

So basically I just need to know how can I deal with being in the friendzone and is there a way I can make the romantic feelings go away because as I said we're due to spend the next few years together and we have mainly mutual friends here. I do really like her as a friend too but I almost feel the fact we get on so well is making the romantic feelings more intense. The loneliness is compounded a bit by the fact I'm living away from home too.

Anyone who can share something similar or give me advice would be really appreciated. Thanks guys.

I think you should ask her out, if she says no you will know for sure and that is the only way you can move on in your mind. It's not really a situation where you can simply cut contact with her and I would imagine you do not want to if she is such a good friend too.

Asking her out might put a bit of closure as to the what if scenarios playing our in your head. You never know what will happen, even if you do not get together now she will know how you feel and perhaps in the future it will happen. Whatever you do just carry on as normal afterwards.

Talk to her! I was in a similar situation. except I thought I was "friendzoned" and the guy thought he was "friendzoned".. we ended up becoming really good friends and I told him how I felt though it was too little too late as college was coming to an end and we both had futures in different countries planned .. Now we still talk almost every day but had I just got the courage earlier we could be really bloody happy right now..

TL;DR talk to her! tell her how you feel
