    Hi,

I recently applied for fis...have had no word back yet but was going through my p60 and doing some calculations.

based on my p60 it looks like i am e6 over the threshold based on last years salary.

e600-700 of my salary was an unexpected payment from our parent company that has never happened before and most likely will not happen again.

I am expecting that my claim will be denied but i am wondering if anyone has been in a situation like this before and what their outcome was?

I know i will have to appeal but just looking for any advuce surrounding this

    Hello,

Just reading your post... can you advise, are you saying that the 600-700 payment brings your average total weekly family income above the FIS threshold for your family size? by €6 per week?

There is a very useful worksheet on calculating your entitlement to FIS on Citizens information - Worksheet: How to calculate your Family Income Supplement, you might want to have a look at this.

If you are clearly over the limit there would not be much point in making a formal appeal to the Social Welfare Appeals office on this, as it would simply be a matter of being over the limit. It does not appear that any disallowance is made for monies over the limit, even €5 or €6 more.

Check the calculation and see if you were right.

    Hope you found this useful.

    Regards,

Yes...it would push me over...i'm not quite sure how the tax calculations surrounding that payment works , but, if i hadn't received it last year, i would be within the limit this year to get fis.

if it were being based on this years salary, i would be within the limit.

thanks so much for your reply, i have had a look at the worksheet and know how to figure the 60% out. It's thus one off payment from last year that's throwing things as i won't receive it this year but it looks like i will still miss out on fis
