1st PC build

Hi all.. My daughter of 17 years has suggested this as a good build. Ive never built before. I will need PC for heavy graphic programs Photoshop, illustrator etc with some 3d modelling also. Need it as fast as possible before breaking the bank. But after quickly pricing this stuff up its not so cheap!!

ANy suggestions would be really appreicated

She has suggested the following.

Cpu : i7-4790k
Ram: 8GB at least. 16 preferably. corsair
256gb ssd
1tb Hard Drive
Nvidia 760gtx graphics card
Z87-GD65 motherboard

That is a build I done for a guy toda. Was as cheap as I could go without cutting corners. Again around 1k delivered. Swapping the hdd and ssd to your ones.

Yes, she is. Talking a 500 euro mark up. And that is with corners cut.

It's a fairly sound build for those uses if you're OK with spending about a grand - though as mentioned, you won't get that sort of spec in PC World, and the closest thing would still cost far, far more.

One thing though, drop the 4790K in favour of the regular 4790, they're the exact same except the k model is unlocked to allow overclocking, which I suspect you're not going to be doing.

Also if it's for 3D modelling and rendering stick with Nvidia, the GTX760 is an older model so go with the GTX960 perhaps, though for those purposes a GTX750Ti is much cheaper and should be close enough in performance. It does depend on what programs you are using, but AMD isn't so good in this non-gaming instance.

Thanks for the reply . at any one time I can have very large files opened In photoshop and same in illustrator with flash the Internet and excel openEd in background.

I have been told to keep to nividia also!!! To be honest though I'd rather not spend 1k on a machine but don't want to suffer with performance issues either.

Well there isn't really a limit on what you can see for your money with those uses as much as there is with gaming, but if you give an indication of what you're genuinely willing to spend we can do up a build based on that.

In a dream world we'd all be using i7 PC's with 16GB of ram....

The reality is there is no point in spending money on a machine that doesn't do what I need it to do. So if I need to spend 1k I will.

So the specs are really this.I mostly work in large format graphics but need to have multiple applications open at the same time. Programs used are as follows.
Photoshop, illustrator, 3d rendering of pics, flash, Internet, excel, word etc.. NO gaming.

You could get an xeon1231 v3 244 euro. bring cost down to 900 ish.

But personally, you or your daughter have a good build done up for the 1k. Didn't see a case in your build?

Nothing to do with computers.

I get paid to hunt humans with nothing but a Compound bow and push dagger. Humans make the best sport. Well used to. Nowadays they seem more concerned about whether or not they will have wifi to change their fb status , than how much of a head start they will be getting.

Really only on boards to try help others out, get the best value for money when making their pc. It evens out my karma for all the murdering. Doesn't it? Meh.

You have delivery added on to all parts whats that? You add a part to the basket on hardwareversand. De and it saves. Delivery will be about 10 euro tops for the whole lot.

Two ram types dont need that 1333 GeIL dragon. Bit tipsy will check tomo.

There should be an English translation options top right and corner of hardwareversand.de. don't need it for geizhals.de.

Put your part in search. Choose from the list. Then select the shop and add part to basket.

Rinse and repeat. Then at the end you will see a full basket with discounts applied.

He's adding the first listing for each item from Geizhals.de I reckon, hence all the different delivery charges.

corelon, I was a bit lost too, but its worth it. As Sterling says, there's a translated English version of the site (but its by no means perfect) Also:

When you select a part on Geizhals.de, at the bottom of the page it will list the different sites you can get the part from. Make sure you click the one from 'hardwareversand'. This will bring you to the HWVS website, where you should add the item to the basket.

Do this for each item and you should have a basketfull of discounted items on hardwareversand.de with only one delivery charge., go to checkout , pay with bank transfer whatever, done.
