    I agree.

Whatever about 29-28 either way, the judge who gave all three rounds to Arnfield was ridiculous.

Yeah that was ridiculous how could he score the first round to Arfield

Doran deserved that. No jab at all from Keeler. Doran too slippery to catch him with something big without setting it up.

Even during his first fight, I thought Keeler had hurt his right - that might explain why he kept 'waving' it. I think it affected him, but Doran definitely deserved the win. He may have beaten him anyway.

It's been a good Prizefighter. Nearly all fights were competitive and close.

That was a beauty of a hook from Doran.

    English referees again ruining fights

Jesus, what was the ref at with Brian Rose?

Yes, he was hurt, but it's boxing. And it wasn't after rounds of a beating.

I don't know if it was that bad a decision. He was all over the place & didn't give the ref much choice. Had he gone down he could have got a count but he was like bambi on ice.

Feel for Brian Rose you can hear the disappointment in his voice. Ian J Lewis is a disgrace shouldn't be giving a fight for some time

Glenn McCrory has it spot on. It's a stumble in the first rd give him a chance that's all if he keeps banging him on the ropes without reply then call it

    No he wasn't.

It was one stumble and he was hurt, but that's it. Very bad stoppage.

It was the stumble & the attempt to clinch that he ended up hugging air.

I'm sure you can answer this but can you be given a count without hitting the canvas?

In certain countries (mainly European) you can, but not England.

Thanks, would make plenty of sense & remove the needs for similar types of decisions.

Wow I didn't know they didn't do standing 8 counts

I think stoppage was correct. rose should have taken a knee

Thought so too, Rose was badly rocked 3 times in a few seconds. Ref has to protect fighter. Up to Rose to take a knee.

Just catching up on last nights fights and that Rose stoppage was a bit of a joke.

I counted rose being hit at least 20 times and he could not retaliate at all ref was right

He's not getting hit clean 20 times. His gloves are up and he's protecting himself

Without having looked back at it, I'm pretty certain he wasn't hit at least 20 times.

If he was I'd have no problem with a stoppage. And I have a big problem with that stoppage!

He had chicken legs, thought ref could have given it another 10 seconds... though I felt he was badly hurt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,378 ✭✭✭✭walshb

The referee could have let it go, and Rose could have taken really hard leather, and god knows... All this coulda shouda woulda nonsense. The referee is the man right up close, and he is charged with protecting a distressed fighter. Rose was not firing back and was getting tagged and was quite wobbled. Fair enough stoppage I thought. Rose was given a few seconds to respond and properly defend. He didn't. End of.

Not denying that Rose wasn't hurt but I don't think he was hurt enough to stop the fight. I don't think it was necessary for Rose to throw a punch to prove he was OK because he was moving. He covered up relatively OK because alot of them punches that Jones were throwing weren't landing. It would be different if he was on the ropes taking a beaten, then I'd say he has to show the ref something.

I'm never one to enjoy a boxer getting a hiding but some of the stoppages amongst British judges leave alot to be desired. When I look at the fights in the states, its like they're from different schools.

I see where you are coming from.
