I want to move a front door out flush with front of house . I want remove existing tiled step in photo and pour concrete up to level of internal floor
    approx 8" in height
I need advice on where to put damp proof membrane (plastic sheet) and insulation .
should I pour for example 4" concrete then lay insulation and pour remaining concrete /or leave to harden and then insulate and then screed ?
also ,how far out can insulation go before weakening the concrete supporting door
    any suggestions appreciated

Are u putting in a new set of steps outside or whats the plan?

The answer to this decides where the dpc goes.

Rather than move it out, have u considered adding another door to act as a draught lobby?

Moving the existing into ope will require a bit of work as the existing is at least an inch of not 2 wider than the plastered porch

yes will install steps outside new entrance . I looked at having 2 doors but outside door would have to open outwards onto the new steps,

    +1
Op just looked again at pic, will there be enough head room in the ope out front for existing.

The opening out is not a big issue, u can make the step a bit deeper.
To me the second door makes hugh sense for heat loss management and also increased security.
Moving existing a lot of work and it will cost so as not to make it look dog.

Are you actually allowed to do that? Open doors outwards, I thought it was against building regulations because if anything was put outside the door, or a car parked up to it, that it prevented the exit being used, especially in an emergency, I don't know why, but I also think it looks unusual, to the point of looking wrong.
I don't know if the above about the regs is fact, but I've hardly seen an outward opening door much and I suspect this is the reason why.

I doubt it's a problem, considering every emergency exit door I've ever come across opens outwards (due to fire regs afaik).

It seems obvious that an emergency door would open outwards, but that kind of exit is on a non domestic building, I'd have thought there was some responsibility for them to be maintained under fire regulations, ie kept functional, clear and not accessible to be blocked by vehicles?, a front driveway would be different, I just wondered if its in building regs for that reason or something else as, as far as I can see, house doors open inwards, I've seen a few that don't, but they don't look right to me.

    ?

pointless to add a second door to act as a draught lobby judging by the tiles he has 50cm to play with it would be impossible to close the inner door and stand in the space between it and the outer door.

its in the building regs that non domestic exits must open outwards but no instruction is given in the regs as to the direction the exit opens in domestic house
