    okay,

so Im in the market for some new irons, Currently have a old set of Titleist 690 CB's playing off 12.
I like the Callaway Apex pro's, Ping I25's and also like the taylormade speedblades. so many irons out there,

the question is this where would be the best place to get Irons custom fit. the idea been that I want a good fit to my game.

I know there are many places to go, but where do people think is the best????

You've answered your own question here, Birr golf range are decent and prob 2nd best in the country for it, as they use your actual ball flight but if u want the best there's no point starting another pointless custom fit battleground thread......

    Hi,
Really any pro can check the loft and length of shaft you ned 90+% of us are standard. it really is then a matter of picking the head you like and getting the correct shaft. Mcguirks in the grange driving range usually have all the demo clubs available to hit and i often find it is nicer to hit them withour a pro looking over you shoulder to get a feel before you get the fitting.

The most unusual specs to see from a custom fit are standard lie standard length regular shaft.

    +1
Excluding the Foregolf or Birr option, any golf shop attached to a range with a launch monitor will do an equally good job e.g. McGuirks Kinsealy.
Carton an option too if you were sticking with Titleist.

I got fitted last month for i25 irons and I am very happy with the results so far

Would recommend getting fitted with Joe Frawley @ McGuirks in Swords
    He's very thorough.

The fitting is free of charge if you buy your clubs there.

I bought speedblades from Halpennys in Carrickmines last Oct and spent an age trying out various irons on the flightscope before deciding on them. Custom fitting was included and when I picked up the irons a few weeks later I was allowed as much time as I wanted on the flightscope to gauge distances for each iron. I'll be going back there for any future club purchases.

I got my current irons a few years back fitted indoors by Conor from Premier Golf (now closed). I think he now works in Halpenny's in Carrickmines.
Last year, I had a bag check in Foregolf and these irons were shown as close to optimum and no alternative iron option bettered them.

Went for a Wedge fitting with them last week. I was very impressed with the level of service I got out of them. They stats'd me to the max and I got all the ball flight graphs money could buy!

I got a fair auld education out of them and would recommend Niall in Pro Golf to anyone!

I got my G20 irons fitted in ProGolf too and I still have them and happy with them, but believe that you need a (much?) wider selection of shafts on offer when it comes to hybrids/woods/driver which is why I choose Foregolf and very happy with results.

Bit of a taboo topic around here c.

Excellent thread on the topic here though :

My view is that there isnt a best place unfortunately, and it would just be money down the drain.

Pro golf are my local shop and I have hit clubs in the fitting section of their shop and subsequently got fitted in foregolf. I've also been in the range in birr while somebody else was being fitted. I don't think pro golf measures up to the other two mainly because you need to see the actual ball flight to see if the clubs make a difference. I was happy with foregolf but would rank birr on a par with it.

In my opinion, Pro golf have limited stock of common items and can be pushy in looking for a sale. In saying that, they have a new setup in a range outside Athlone and that might be better.

If you are into your golf and willing to incur some additional cost then Fore Golf is the place to go. Really high quality facility with quality staff and the latest high-end equipment. I did a full fit there last year and while I did not purchase I was happy with the advice. I have had other fitting sessions in other locations so I have reference material for my comments.
In my view one of the biggest pluses of Fore Golf is the quality control aspect of the equipment supplied i.e lie and loft of irons will be correct for you, the shafts will have been matched for frequency and stiffness, the swing weights will match up etc. they build the club's selected to suit your swing.
When you buy off the shelf, even if you custom order them the tolerances can vary significantly. You can be lucky and get a good consistent set but I am sure that we can all remember sets where we had individual irons that we loved and other ones which we did not- often the clubs we could not hit as consistently are the ones that were out of line with the rest of the set. You have to decide what you want.
If you can organise it make a day of it and play Killeen Castle as well!

yeah i got new shafts in hybrid, 3w and driver, all worked great. So good that this time i want to keep my 3 wood and hybrid shafts and talk about benefits of upgrading to 915 range from 910 range.
Also this time round i need my wedge gaps worked out as well.

Got my wedges, I am incredibly happy with what I got. I went for Vokey's with project X shafts. The shafts Niall recommended were to go much heavier than what I had previously, 120 gram. The shaft is also 1.5 inches longer than my previous. There's other stats too that I got done, but I cant remember them all. Full shots and chipping, I have so much better feel than what I had before and every shot I hit, I stitched!

If I dont have my handicap tumble down this year, it definitely won't be because of my wedges, lol :D

Wow that's a pretty heavy shaft, will be interesting to see how you find them after a few months practice. Could make a good improvement in feel and accuracy with those scoring clubs.

Is 120 grams not that heavy? As far as i know the S300s are around 130 grams so 120 isnt too bad. Think the KBS tour stiff are 120

The x100 are 130g and s300 are also 130g. I went to x100 on mine for a lower ball flight I changed pw, 9, 8. Being honest they feel a bit dead when hit.
