Hi folks I brought my car in for a service today and got a rather nasty little surprise..basically there is some engine roar when the car is idling..this has been traced to a leak in the breather pipe behind the intake manifold. I have been told that the manifold will need to be removed for the pipe to be replaced, and the estimate for this work is over 400e. Is this a reasonable estimate for the work needed, or should I shop around?
The car is a 05 1.8petrol mondeo, if thats of any relevance.

    Cheers,
    daithi

Sounds a bit expensive did they only quote for the pipe and fitting or anything else ??
I havent fitted one of those pipes in a long time but its not a big deal.

Now that you know the problem, but the part yourself from Ford or an auto factors and price around for fitting it.

thanks for the input, will shop around for a better price-the part itself was quoted as costing 38e, the remainder(367e) being labour and vat-4 hours labour at 80 per hour..
