My mum currently has a pretty poor copper line broadband line, 0.6meg download but she is 7 miles from the local exchange. I stopped with a BT chap working down the road at a cabinet, turns out he was installing fibre which will run to a cabinet under a mile from her house. My mum currently has a pretty poor copper line broadband line, 0.6meg download but she is 7 miles from the local exchange.

I stopped with a BT chap working down the road at a cabinet, turns out he was installing fibre which will run to a cabinet under a mile from her house.

Question is, will her poor speed line improve a bit on the back of this fibre install? Or is it a totally separate thing and she needs to sign up to fibre?
