40 Irish believed to be fighting with ISIS

A former member of ISIS named "Abu Omar" who claims to have been a member of the Free Syria Army before being forced to join ISIS when they took over his unit before he defected and escaped has described how up to 40 Irish jihadists are fighting with ISIS.
The man has described how Irish jihadists are fighting in the role of snipers.

It is not clear if these individuals were foreign nationals living in Ireland who have Irish citizenship, Irish born Muslims of foreign descent or white Irish born Muslim converts.

Either way they should be stripped of their Irish citizenship and turned away if they try to return to Ireland. Any jihadi in Ireland should be kicked out of this country.

Hopefully the vermin are killed over there before they can come back.

We must be in guard because a Sydney style siege or a Charlie Hebdo style attack or something like the Beslan massacre could happen in this country. As we have seen before it only takes a handful of men armed with guns and knives to murder large numbers of people.

The 40 is a figure he has pulled from the air. There are no personnel/HR records in ISIS so he has no way of knowing how many from any country are there unless he has met every ISIS foreign fighter and taken note of their nationality which is unlikely.
Headline grabbing methinks, but really who knows?

    ^^
Let's also not forget the power of propaganda. ISIS claiming foreign personnel in their ranks could easily be a PR game to portray themselves as an international Muslim fighting force.

That's not to say it's not true. Plenty of mentally ill people in this country fanatical about religion, someone who found themselves obsessed with Islam could likewise find themselves drawn to the middle east.

A guy from Derry named Eamon Bradley who came back from Syria after fighting with ISIS was arrested at the end of last year.

Maybe because they were wearing green the first thing he thought was "Irish?".
