    Hello all,
looking for some advice on a problem I have,I'm not mechanically minded so forgive me if my terminology is off...
anyhow the fuel management/engine light came on in the car and shortly after it broke down...the car went into the garage...a new coil was the problem...the car came out but shortly after it was obvious there was still something up...back it went and this time it was oxygen sensors...it drove well for some time but again the managment light came on....the last garage f%#ked me around btw so It went to a different garage....the mechanic quizzed me and he reckoned he knew and sure enough the catalytic converter was the problem...since then the car is driving fine but sure enough the bloody light has come on again....Any ideas??

You need to get it scanned with VCDS to see what fault codes are stored.

Did you drive it for long when the coil went or did you get it fixed straight away ? A blown ignition coil can result in some unburnt fuel entering the Cat so could potentially damage it and the sensors, it could also just be coincidence and bad luck.

No point in guess work anyway, best get it scanned. Where are you based ?

The car went in and had the coil replaced..the second time the sensors were replaced, then it was driven ... it seemed to have no power and if it went over 100kph,the steering wheel would shudder,it was left in again and that was when the cat was changed
It's driving fine now but the light is on again ,I obviously don't want to go down the same road..
forgive my ignorance but surely when a car is left in the first thing they'll do is hook it up and see what error codes you'll get...?

I wouldn't count on it, depends of the quality of garage or mechanic you left it with, some like to just throw parts at a car and hope it fixes the problem and don't do any real fault finding or diagnostics work.
