I sent my laptop into PC World for repair around November 14 last year due to a number of problems:

    1. The motherboard had failed and the laptop wouldn't turn on.

    2. The USB 3.0 port wasn't reading any devices.

    3. The earphone port wasn't working correctly.

They said they'd have it back to me in two weeks at the most. However, there was some sort of dispute between the PC World branch and the lads in England who repair laptops and computers. That was around the start of January. I still haven't heard back from them, and I'm considering going into the PC World store this weekend to see what the problem is.

That is a crazy amount of time. Go in and demand a refund. You'll have to be quite forceful as they wont back down easily.

If that fails then I would send them a letter (yes on paper!) by registered post, stating that you will be taking them to the small claims court unless this issue is resolved within x number of working days.

Their issue with the repair company is not your issue, so why should you pay the price.

(Take it one step at a time, but you'll get there)

thank you op for the info, i thought i was alone in this, i sent a laptop in for repair here in dundalk last nov. when i chased them up in mid dec they returned it unrepaired with a letter stating the damage was not consitent with a fall.

the only appeal route is via snail mail and after 3 letters i still have not received a reply. with the knowledge that its happening to others, and at around the same time, i can go back to them and start pushing a little harder. please update this thread if you make progess.
