I'm getting a free S3 in a couple of days time but it has a problem with the micro usb battery charging port. The device wont charge as a result.

I am going to do this fix for a while...

Where could I get a new charging port for cheap and would it cost much if I brought it to a repair shop to have it fixed?

Also this will be my first android phone using..Is is possible to upgrade to kitkat or whatever operating system is currently out.

And do I need the usb port fixed before using the google play store?

    Thanks for any responses.

1 ebay probably & depends on where you are getting it repaired

2 depends if it is from a network operator. should have kitkat already, lollipop not so much * again depends if its a network operator phone

3 well you need the phone switched on for google play.

I think the phone is not tied to any network... Will that make it harder or can it be done from Samsung's website?

    Cheers for the reply
