Have made a lot of my owncontacts through the years and think it's time to make the jump as my job is coming to an end.

    Here's my conundrum!!

Set up shop, pay my way for everything and more, have a half decent year and network the b@££@x off myself!

    or

Go on the dole/ X's and o's for a year do any course I can get, qualify for the back to work enterprise scheme, get a hand up for van, PI, advertising, access to credit up to €25000, keep my dole for a year 75% for the second and 50% for the third while not being liable for income tax earning up to €40000 and possibly miss the boat....

    WTF

They'd rather you sit it out for a year???

I'm pretty sure the back to work scheme stopped those perks around 2010 or so. I think you keep the dole as you describe and medical card. That's about it.

They stopped paying for them in full but will still give you 40% as far as I'm aware

I know someone that they paid to go on a dog grooming course then they forked out to make a van conversion so he could start up a mobile grooming business, van cost 18k.
