It's a constant problem for me, sometimes it connects, sometimes not. The charge in the phone seems to affect it but it's maddening.

I've tried this a few times but never had any joy, tried an old Nokia and it worked and tried a friends iPhone 4 and happy days bit my android has never had any joy even if I leave it in the "Bluetooth compartment"

OP, are you connecting it as a phone or a media device? I've had no problems connecting Galaxy S4's and S5's to various Octavias. I connect as a phone first and then add media device Bluetooth connection through the radio and phone.

Another thing, are you saving the connection? The Bluetooth remains hidden by default and after connecting you must save the connection in the phone and radio. I assume you've all old connections deleted first.

Trying to connect it as a phone, seen somewhere that there's an app called rsap or something like that.. I'll have another play around with it tomorrow and see if anything comes of it..

I have had several skodas and android / iphone combos and never had an issue.

I had a VW with factory bluetooth which uses the same system as Skoda and paired different phones to it no problem - the phones were android, windows and blackberry.

Try pairing a different make/model phone. That will tell you if it's the headunit or phone is the problem.

OP cannot connect his phone to the bluetooth.
    You can

My comment was as much of a contribution as your reply was.

OP, Is the phone rooted? If the phone is rooted the bluetooth setup/profice/whatyamaycallit may be altered. If the phone is rooted, add a new bluetooth api to the phone.

I was connecting an unrooted 4.4 Samsung to a '11 Octavia Saturday and it connected it as a media player. I had to go into the bluetooth menu to switch on call audio.

Might as well bump this than start a new thread. I got into a 2011 Octavia this morning with bluetooth. I've paired my iphone to it but I can't seem to play media through it now. I tried connecting a media device as but it's just telling me the phone is already paired. Any ideas what I can do.

It may not support Bluetooth streaming (just calls) and might only play media (like mp3) from a phone or memory stick through a usb cable.

Thanks Colm, it has an Aux port anyway. Just was wondering if I was missing something!
