As per title, can anyone recommend a BER assessor in South Dublin? Do the prices vary much?

Also, is there anything you can do to prepare for BER assessment? ie. We know we have a damp problem in our house. Can you 'fool' the metric and get the assessment done in Spring or else use humidifier to dry out damp?

Can you also claim €50 back from SEAI for this?

Are you doing the BER, doing work to improve the BER rating and then getting a new BER?

I think thats the only way to claim something back. Not sure though.

No, we're getting the BER for sale purposes and unless there were very minor changes that would make an impact we won't be making any changes.

Having a damp problem has nothing to do with the ber ratng!

    How is the assessment made?

Measuring floor, wall, window areas etc. Counting vents, chimneys, lightbulbs ets. Taking photos. Noting of heating system etc. Inputting data into a computer program as well as making a number of assumptions. Computer program churns out rating as well as general advisory report. Voila

Absolutely no qualitative testing of anything, for example, the heating system is assumed to be working.

    Change out the light bulbs.
