Best settings for apartment

Hi, quick question regarding heating settings for an apartment.
2 bed apartment, gas boiler, hot water, rad zones. Tank stat on hw. Room stat for rads in hall.

Temperature controls on boiler for hot water and gas are set halfway on boiler. Should these be set higher to heat both zones quicker or will this simply use more gas to achieve the desired heat?

Also I find I have to top up the filler loop in the hotpress roughly every 2 weeks, would this indicate a problem or is it normal?

    Thanks

The real problem here is the fact you're losing pressure. Topping up your heating with fresh water frequently will basically rot any steel on the system (radiators ). It will also create sludge and eventually destroy the heat exchanger on your boiler. Get this looked at ASAP

    + 1 for above.

you have a leak somewhere in the system albeit a small one. you should sort this out first. If you cannot find it you might be able to added a sealer to the system to seal it.

If you increase the stats then you will get more heat but also use more Gas.

Hard to imagine where a leak might be.. Although I have Spotted some tiny rust spots on bathroom towel rads.. Drylined ground floor apartment.. Relatively new possibly 6 years old.. Qualpex pipes above ceiling dropping into hotpress and then joined to copper.. I'm there a year and never noticed any wet or damp patches. IL go rooting when I'm home

You could be loosing water out through the safety valve. What pressure do you fill the heating system up to.
Pressurise the system to 1.25 bar when cold, then turn on the heating as per usual. If the system pressure rises above 2.5 when at full temperature it may point towards a problem with the expansion vessel and the safety valve
