I sent in papers(Form Med 1 & 2) into the relevant tax office to claim for my dental ksts over the last 2 years.I have heard nothing back at all for last 3 weeks. Is this normal?I sent an email to the office as well to see if they received my papers but no reply either. How long should it rake on average when applying for tax relief on your dental expenses??

Depends on the office you sent them to and staff resources. It's one of the busiest times of the year for PAYE units. Why didn't you just use the online service provided by Revenu, PAYE Anytime?

I thought by the time I registered + sorted that out + then claim it may take longer.Might just give them a ring tomorrow, I'm going away on a month so it will be handy to have it sorted before I head off!

PAYE section is well backed up. I sent in an election for joint assessment at the start of Jan and it is only being looked at now. Change to tax credits are taking nearly 3 weeks.

Don't bother emailing them. Ring them in the morning time and ask has it been processed yet. If you did it on PAYE anytime it would be much quicker. Note Revenue are very sticky on what they allow for relief with dental expenses.
