Wireless Thermostat and boiler response

I always own a wired thermostat or programmer /timer so this may sound a bit of a dumb question but is there a sort of delay with wireless thermostats from the time you press the button till the boiler actually comes on/off?

    Thanks.

In terms of when the wireless thermostat decides it needs heat, and the relay in the receiver clicks, it should be near instantaneous.

You might be seeing 1 or both of these delays:

the wireless thermostat might be delaying it's on time as part of an optimisation feature. My one does this e.g. if i decide i want 20C from 10am to 2pm, but the house is already 20C, it won't switch on until say 10.40am... alternatively, if the house is 18C, and the thermostat knows it takes 2 hours to heat up 2C, it will switch on at 8AM...
It also might be limiting the number of boiler starts per hour e.g. 5 per hour, with a minimum run time of 20minutes etc...

other delay could be the boiler - it would receive the on signal, but might wait a moment until it responds. Either a general delay (to be sure you clicked the programmer correctly rather than passing over an option on the old timeclocks for example) or it could be a short cycling issue where the boiler doesn't to fire up again until a timer has passed, or the LPHW return temp is below a threshold

About 0.5 seconds. If the set temp is lower than the current temperature it obviously won't kick in. Also if the temp on the boiler is lower than the set temp it won't kick in

I have a Salus rt500 and it takes around 3 to 5 seconds to react.

I am experiencing the same with the tado. Sometimes even 10 seconds. Tado thermostat sends the signal to the server which then sends it to the relay. The relay and thermostat can talk to each other locally which it is a bit silly from Tado. Hopefully they will sort that out with a firmware.

I have no problem with my danfloss system. Installation was much cheaper and easier as cables didn't need to be ran and no patch up was necessary. Batteries last about 2 years and are easy to change.

I think they are great, it is so handy the way you can bring it from room to room if needed. We now have a Buderus with our new system which is ok, in the past we had a Honeywell which was fantastic, I especially liked the back light.

Finally I couldn't see a difference between wired and wireless.
