Whats there to investigate? Zero Hour contracts exist across all areas of the private sector. What exactly will and ''Academic'' study determine that we don't already know. More importantly will any findings be acted upon ( will it fuk ) .

I don't know about the rest of the country but I for one, am sick of these studies about studies and reports about reports that are compiled with the greatest possible expense before they are discarded because they don't come up the 'right answers' or the subject they are investigating becomes boring/ unfashionable

I've said it on here before but I'm told I have an axe to grind about Universities.

I think it's all a big sh1t show. An old boys club. When we fell into enormous wealth, where did all the money go? It was funneled through wishy, washy crap like this and it's continuing under the perfect guise of 'education'. Even better, they invest more heavily in education now that the country is on it's knees. It would be really interesting to balance the books for Ireland to see the income and expenditure down to the smallest detail.

Follow the paper trail. You'll have construction projects which have involved Engineering faculties at some University for consulting. You'll have policies in education being influenced by a study carried out by a different University. I had some lecturers I liked but none that I'd want making decisions that will impact my life like that.

Our biggest projects during the 'good' times were mainly funded by the EU. Where was the 'expense' ? (really funneling money into the pockets of the politicians and their friends). It was in these little studies. It's madness, Ted. And nothing will ever change there, either. A lot of people get defensive and stand up for the University they went to out of Pride.

Or at least, that's my take on it
