Travel with laptop?

I've decided I'm going to bite the bullet and take time off work to travel Europe like I've always wanted :D I can reasonably fit everything I'm bringing (I'm going for about a month) into one bag but I was wondering if people would suggest bring a laptop, tablet, ect? And if so which one? I'm an artist so my pack has some supplies in it so most of my time on trains will be taken up by that, and I'm planning to bring my iPhone and iPod. Do you's think that these would be able to handle the strain of acting as my phone. mp3 and computer?

My big issue with bringing the laptop is that I don't want to spend my time worrying about what's happening to it so that I can enjoy myself!

So boardsies what do you's think?

Hang and Cheese sandwiches and four cans of Gilde Pils did me back in the 80's, wouldn't do it now without my laptop but I'm old :-)

Once you've a decent phone I wouldn't be bothering with the laptop. The less stuff you have to pack/unpack and carry with you the better.

Agree! Most hostels will have computers you can use in the lobby. Your phone will do the rest. Maybe a tablet if you're feeling fancy, but honestly, I wouldn't bother. What's the point in traveling if you're going to spend your time on the internet, could have done that at home!

Iphone will be sufficient enough for Europe IMO. Maybe the tablet if you like watching movies at night!

I'd bring a tablet to watch movies/tv shows while travelling between cities but reckon a laptop would be unnecessary. As a previous poster said, any good hostel will have computers to use the net for free or at most a small fee, so you could use this if you need to book/print tickets or anything.
