    Hi all,

I am self employed and drive a petrol car for which I use around 80% of the time for work. Can I claim petrol expenses or would I have to change to a commercial vehicle or diesel to avail of these expenses?

    Thanks in advance

You can claim petrol expenses against income tax but you cannot claim a vat input credit in relation to petrol expenses.
