I was on the road today. car in front of me went to pull across into petrol station. there was a cycle lane beside the road, nobody in it, so I pulled across into cycle lane and overtook him. cycle lane was clear. is this against the rules? should I have waited fro him to turn across

    have the test on tuesday

If the cycle lane was bounded by a continuous white line,a car may not pull in to it.If it had a dashed line, you may do as you described .
