Can anyone here tell me what apps are available in Ireland on a Sony Smart TV?

I have a crappy Panasonic Smart TV and the only player that works on it is ITV. No Rté Player etc.

All smart tv's are a rip off with poor selection, don't think they have rte player either...get a android box and any tv is a smart tv with more apps and programs and for a fraction of the cost...

+100 I wouldn't pay any heed to the functions claimed for a 'Smart' TV. If it has a web browser it's usually useless because it won't support (Adobe) Flash and in no time at all the manufacturer will stop offering s/w upgrades so any new function that hits the streets won't run on it.

As advised, you should aim to get that type of function from an external box - Apple TV, Chromecast etc.

Sony will be launching Android TVs this year so I will wait until they come out.

have a sony smart tv, tv3, sky news, YouTube, and about a dozen others that are of no use, no Netflix. have a Samsung bdf6500 bluray, rte, tv3, tg4,Netflix, YouTube, bbc news, a much better option, less than half the price ot a new tv and it's wifi, can move it around the house.

I wouldn't get a tv based on its Smart TV capabilities as manufacturers are quick to stop support on models that a few years old. I had a Samsung a few years ago that never had any updates as the model number wasn't deemed to be worthy (ie. I didn't spend more on the newer all singing and all dancing model). An external device would be my choice if I was looking

No Netflix on your Sony smart tv? That's odd as my Sony Bravia remote even has a Netflix button on it. What is the model number of the Sony tv out of curiosity?

Get an Amazon Fire Stick or an android box or the apple thingy or something similar to that Blu-Ray player that had smart apps or setup remote desktop on an old laptop plugged into the TV

Even if there is an insurmountable security problem you can replace the box for a lot less than it costs to change a TV.

Smart TV's are totally insecure. Completely. There's no way I'd entrust my login and password to one. And the history of OS's has shown us that you can't bolt security on afterwards, you pretty much have to design it in from day 1. And does anyone expect TV manufacturers to provide firmware updates for models they don't make anymore ? In November Microsoft patched a 19 year old security flaw

LG has admitted it continued collecting data on viewing habits even after users had activated a privacy setting designed to prevent it.

Technology giant Samsung is warning its customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their new smart TV sets.

The warning applies to viewers who control their sets using its voice activation feature.

It listens to conversations, and may share any details it hears with Samsung or third parties.

Just days after its TV voice recognition software came under fire for invading privacy, Samsung users are reporting unwanted Pepsi ads appearing while they watch their Smart TVs.

Yeah, more recent Sony models have a Netflix button on the remote that opens the app on the tv. RTÉ Player is on no Sony models.
