hi folks, i will be grateful for any tips.

i am about to inherit a 15 year old Renault car with non metallic paint. It has been parked up for about 6 months. there is a fair bit of organic muck / slime / mould on the paint work and in particular around trim and openings.
the actual paint looks to be in good condition although it might be a bit dull.
any recommendations as to how i would get this car looking pretty again?
i remember reading somewhere that non metallic renault paint is a bit 'soft' and needs to be treated with care.

    many thanks for any advice.

Given that its been sitting up a while, a good washing will do it wonders. A power washer would be of major benefit for getting into and around that trim pieces to get the heavy dirt off. Following up from that, an All Purpose Cleaner mixture, with a few various sized brushes to get in and give them a good cleaning, and then a re-wash, will have it looking respectable again.

If you are really looking to get it back to its former glory, its going to need more time and effort and a few quid spent!
You'd want to a good prep on it, so a de-tar, de-iron and claying would ensure the paintwork is decontaminated well, and then maybe consider a hand polishing to try restore some depth and shine. After that, a decent wax or sealant and you'll have a decent looking motor once again!

Many thanks Curran. I'll try the easy bits first!
Would a certain shed have some APC and brushes? - Or would a paint brush do?

Is it a Renault 5 by any chance?

Is it a Renault 5 by any chance?

Would have to be nearly 20 years old to be a 5. Could be a Clio or a Megane?

    It's a Mark 1 Megane 1998.
The mileage is close to Zero.
i am having an interesting time looking at the condition of the car.
you know that old chestnut about which is better:
a 15 year old car with 10,000 miles
    or
a 3 year old car with 100000 miles?
obviously the overall condition is a combination of both age and mileage but this will be a learning curve for me.
But for sure, the condition of the paintwork deteriorates over time more than internal engine parts.
i think the older non-metallic paint finishes suffer a lot from UV deterioration as well.
