Interesting turning circle with that Willys, I bet! I wouldn't like to bring it through kilkenny on a busy day...

The Willy's is a custom build. Here's what the 5 year younger model looked like stock.

! Sounds like it may have started life as a train engine then

    Service info

They made 2 with the train carriages on top.

    2.jpg
They were designed in some institute in 2002-2003 in Moscow.

Currently located in the territory of some engineering and design research institution near Moscow. The top of this phenomenon is a former diesel locomotive put onto a nuclear missile transporter/launcher chassis (search for MAZ-7917 to get the idea). Every wheel is powereded by an individual electric engine located in the hub.

It was suppose to be ready for action (or action training) in December 2003, but something went wrong with the suspension. They worked for a week or two until the project was cancelled.

The hydraulic systems are inside the body. The boxes on the sides are the rechargeable battery and the hydraulic oil container. The containers under the frame are fuel tanks.

The purpose of the machines is secret, but it's believed to have meant to have become a several thousand kilowatt self-propelled electrical power station.
