    Hi,

hope this is the right place. Basically I'm a primary teacher who wishes they had gotten better results in college. I graduated a few years ago. Have my dip and am in a permanent job. I don't want to stay where I am forever and am worried that when I try to get a job somewhere else my grades will work against me.

Is there a way for me to get a better qualification?

    Thanks for any replies.

When you say "I don't want to stay where I am forever" does that mean in terms of location or in terms of the teaching profession?.

I think you mean location, so I'd say just accept the results you have but maybe be able to say why they weren't so hot i.e. 'didn't like the theory.. preferred the practical aspect etc.' In terms of where do you go from here!! Well I'd say just keep doing courses to inform your practice. I wasn't exactly a straight-A student in college myself, but once I went back when I was older (wiser!!) it was down to business and the results followed.

Maybe consider some subject area of the primary teaching that you think you could explore more!

Also in terms of a job interview I think they might want something outside academia too just to show you are an all rounder. So getting involved in volunteering or community activities would be no harm either.

Id say not to worry about the basic results too much as I think the work experience (and references) will supersede all of that. Of course if you really want to put that thought to bed and feel you'll always have it niggling in the back of your head then check out a masters. A masters would be the bog-standard add on that most teachers do, if you're up to the challenge and not much distractions going on outside school life.
