I'm into my music, and I like my stereos, but the shop-bought ones bore me a bit, so I make these for the craic, what do you guys think?

Very impressive visually but what are the actual audio components around which it's built? My own hi fi system probably wouldn't win any beauty contests but sounds great. Yours certainly looks very stylish but is there substance to the style?

The components are all Sony, car stereo stuff running off 12v stepped down from mains through an internal transformer. it's a case of plug it into the mains and play - has bluetooth, cd, aux and sd card input.

I have a big pair of high-end Bose cabs that I hook the head-units up to to check the output once all the wiring is done. Once my own speakers are connected, there's never a comparable loss of fidelity. No-one who ever listened to one complained about the sound! They bang it out clear as a whistle right up to full-volume. It took me a long while to get the wiring runs isolated, and the components sorted to give really good output. The venting and sound deadening inside the speakers also took a lot of getting right to produce clean sound. :)

Also, half the fun is the look - people see it playing and wonder wtf it is. The look matters. It's entertainment and that isn't sound alone.

Just wondering, are you also a fan of Beats headphones & speakers? Personally I've never been that bothered or indeed "entertained" by what hi fi gear looks like so long as it conveys the music accurately.

You're blind so. Right? It's all in the ears?

Pretty much yeah. The looks of a hi fi system (however stylish, elegant etc) would come a very distant second to how it sounds in my view.

Doesn't matter, I'm a fussy fecker. Mine sound perfect, or I'd feck them in a skip! :D
