My wife's car failed the NCT due to emissions. I am seriously unqualified to read the results - the mechanic said a new CC but he has a tendency to replace first and ask questions later. The CO on the High Idle seems like it is miles out. Is the mechanic right or would it be worth trying Dipthene and a high rev drive?

It looks like it could be the cat. What car is it?

Hyundais of that vintage often suffer cat failure. Seems like a safe bet in this case.

Some dipetane and driving in low gears with high revs should sort that

Yip it needs a catalytic converter, and since it's a pertrol you can't easily fool your way through the test like ya can with most diesels
