So last night after the €10m draw, I spilt a glass of beer all over my desk at home but it disastrously subsumed my lotto ticket for tomorrows draw.

Presently the ticket has a massive light brown stain on it from the beer so i'm wondering from the validation experts here on AH, will my lotto ticket still be valid if I win tomorrows draw?

I would not get too excited, it needs to be a winning ticket first.

Yes it will as long as the barcode is legible. The numbers part is stored in their database against the barcode number.

You will probably be asked to verify when and where you bought the winning ticket when you go to claim your life changing win

If the barcode is ruined, there is a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long number around the barcode area. if this is not ruined, the assistant in the shop can type it in to the machine and it'll tell you if its a winner or not

can you make out digits? theres about 30 digits or more near the bottom, in a sequence like 12345 54321 12345 54321 12345 54321. if you can read these numbers, then your ticket is checkable

There is 13 digits covered in brown, I can read them but will Lotto HQ do the same?

if you can read them all, thats great!! take it to your local shop, and they can type in the number manually. its the same as scanning the barcode, except the shop assistant has to type manually. thought it was a longer number though?
soooooo, when you do win the lotto tomorrow night, your ticket will be grand! :)

i can't seem top find a new lotto ticket image (and i don't have any), but if you can read the long number just above the bottom barcode (similar to this), you'll be grand

The validation number is 55 digits long in groups of 5 numbers. If they are all legible then your grand. If the Q-Code barcode is visible through the brown stain then thats probably still readable too.

Give the shop assistant a tip though. Entering that 55 digit number is a pain in the hole.

If both the 55 digit number and barcode is ****ed with numbers illegible/invisible, you have one final slim hope. The tickets are printed on thermal paper. Waving a lighter under the paper turns the rest of the paper black but funnily enough the invisible numbers stay translucent. ie. becomes a negative image. Now you can see the numbers again.

If this works and its a big win, you owe me money.

If there is a mark between the two arrow bits |> <| just above the numbers, then it may be considered void.
