Hi just looking for some brain picking here my wife needs a reliable car for the school run, no to be honest it's not that far 6 miles per day however with 3 kids and bags and hurling gear and needs a large booth I have been looking around the €3000 mark for something reliable, I know Toyota corollas are a great car but are are a bit out of my price range at the moment however I went to see a 06 Nissan almera saloon spotless with 74k on the clock 4 new tyres Nct until 02-16 1year warranty for €3100, would these be a reliable car not doing big mileage at most 50 miles a week.

You'd get a grand corolla for 3k. Almeras are scrap in comparison.

    This kinda stuff

Look at the post 03 avensis 1.6 too. Bigger than the almera and corolla. And only marginally more tax than a 1.5 Almera.

We recently bought a Citroen Xsara Picasso for me as a second car to run the kids around in. €3800 for a 2006 one with 100k on the clock. I'm really pleased so far with it! I just love all the space :)

Citroen C4 are dirt cheap and have the exact same engine/chassis as a Peugeot 308, that's what I'd buy if I only had €3k to spend, as you'll get a fairly new one with low miles.

Corolla/Golf are the best but you will have to buy an old one with high miles for €3k.

Almera are ok, but pretty basic, Ford Focus are expensive and from what I've heard give a good bit of trouble.

Thank you for your reply, I will have a look at the c4 I had a Citroen van (company van) for a few years and it was fine no trouble, I know nothing about cars to be honest but I always had Japanese stuff myself I will have look on the net tonight

They wouldn't be great to be honest like all Nissans and Renault from my experience as they both share parts.

The one I linked has 120k which is +/- 75000 miles which is low.
