Boost Leak or Turbo Broken

    Hi Guys,
I drive a 1.4 D4D Corolla with a 1NDTV engine which I think has developed a boost leak. When I rev the car to approx 3000rpm this is when the boost leak is loudest. Can hear air hissing when car is idling and when the car is cold at 3000 rpm it sounds like an old kettle that whistles when ya put it on the hob.
My Oil consumption has also increased.
Does this mean my turbo is screwed or is it more likely to be a cracked/loose pipe.
Also what is the best diy way to test this.
    Thanks Guys,
    Thomas Cawley

Could be a popped off turbo pressure sensor hose.

Had a similar issue on a 2.0 D4D... Oil was disappearing through the popped off hose. Solved it by putting a clamp on it and putting it back on.

Sounds like a nightmare for a novice :P

Anyways I know the leak is around the turbo to right hand side ish area. Either directly at the turbo or between the turbo and airbox side I think.

Would it be safe to use soapy water and look for bubbles?
