    Hi there!

I'm looking for some buying advice/Info! I'm interested in buying this car, it's around 25k new. How much would you expect to get off this for cash? I've never bought a new car! I'm looking at the diesel.

Best thing to do is visit a few different dealers and get a price from them to see who offers the best price. There can be a fair difference in prices between dealers in different counties.

Also if your willing to buy a car straight away that is already in stock then that could influence the dealer's price as he is shifting stock that he has already paid for.

Another thing to consider is if you are going to finance the cost of the car through the garage then push the dealer for a bit more off as the dealer gets commission from the bank for bringing in new business to them.

    Good luck.

Sorry to hijack, but am thinking of buying a 152/161 and this is on my shortlist. Specifically 2.2 diesel executive se saloon/fastback. Any opinions good or bad?
Others on shortlist include a3 saloon 2.0 tdi 150 ps and the octavia with same engine. Mazda 3 seems to tick a lot of boxes.
    currently drive a4 b8 143 bhp tdi

Thanks for the reply bazz. Wont be financing through dealer. Like do you reckon I'm looking at 5-10% off or is that unrealistic? Just trying to get an idea of the final price.

There is no set figure I'd imagine. One thing I will say though is that the Mazda dealer network is small, supply of cars is also on the small size so dealer margins may not be as big as larger volume brands.

5 - 6% discount off list would be pretty good deal in my opinion.

You can only buy Mazda's from stock. Built in Japan so ordered about 6 months in advance of when they arrive. If you want a colour that isn't currently in stock, you have to hope there is one on the next boat, next month.

Great car to drive, and probably what I'd go for in that sector. Very little else gives that power and performance for that price.

Only thing that would make me think twice is that there are still issues with Mazda diesel engines - far too many for my liking, and the after sales service is pretty much abysmal, unless it's back in to the supplying dealer who knows what the issue is.

Camshafts have been replaced on a few early ones, and we've a 6 currently off the road and they aren't sure what it is. Driver got 120km out of it, after he'd picked it up from the dealer having just been fixed...
