Wedding 2nd Day - Golf?

    Hi all,

Our wedding is in the middle of summer and we will be having a 2nd day for close family and friends (approx 30-40) for the second day. The venue has a fantastic golf course on the grounds and the Bride's father wants to play golf the following day. My brothers/father/friends would all play golf in general as would her Dad/Uncles/Brother. He wants to have approx 20 playing golf and that he would buy some prises (novelty type things - wooden spoon etc) and other things just to add to the craic and make it enjoyable.

In theory I think it is a great idea but I also worry about a couple of things and was hoping someone has experience doing something similar the day after the wedding. My main concerns are:
    I
    • think that people may be too wrecked to go playing golf the day after the wedding.
    • Also the additional cost of approx €50 to play the round (we are subsidising the rooms for people staying the two nights but it is still alot to expect people to pay).
    • Approaching people asking for an answer in the next week or two even though the wedding isnt for 5 months as the course is very popular and it will be a Saturday in the height of summer so would need to book the times shortly.

I think it would be fantastic if it all worked out as it gives people something to do other than to go to the pub and drink all day. The idea would be that the lads (and any ladies who want but it would be few/none interested) go golfing and the women relax at the pool/jacuzzi/spa etc and then all back up for a BBQ (provided by us) at approx 4pm.

Literally any input is welcome in relation to any of the above. Whether through personal experience of something similar, just general thoughts on how you would feel about it, recommendations of small changes or completely different alternatives.

    Cheers,

Most people who play golf would tend to jump at something like this.

You seem to have a lot of people in the family who enjoy golf.

Sorry! I'm a bit confused to what your actual question is?
