Problem buying car

    Hi

I'm wondering is does anybody know if Revenue or Dept. Transport post a live breakdown of what models have been registered so far in the year?

I want to see if any Fiat Doblos have been registered in 2015 as a family member ordered one in october and it's still no show.

We were guaranteed 15 weeks delivery time and that they would have info on it "as it moves through production line", but Fiat still cannot provide a date for delivery as of this week. Now 18 weeks on, no info or a VIN number for revenue Primary Cert purposes.

Is it that hard to buy a car? This is for a disabled relative. If we cancel now how do we know some other dealer isn't going to string us out for months again on a Ford etc. ?

If you were guaranteed 15 weeks delivery, you should go back and re-negotiate your deal.

Is it being converted for disabled use? this may cause delays perhaps.

True , They have essentially broken the agreement and you should fet a better deal as a result

Yes but that's after Fiat deliver it. Family member will mostly deal with the conversion as they have the quote for it.

I should add there was a new Doblo introduced into Europe on 1st Feb but this was not mentioned or discussed when ordering the car last october and the person buy the car is not interested in that, and there were suggestions that given it was for a disabled person who needs the car badly that it might be bumped int he production process for delivery last December

Was the delivery date guaranteed or suggested?

there's your answer....go back and make sure they give you the new model and a few other goodies. Of course that depends if you were guaranteed delivery, it is only three weeks late at this stage after all

It could have been a verbal assurance during the buying process, will ask them to check documentation.

Normally it's not a bad thing if you get bumped up to a new model (if that is the case, will check).. you would certainly wait a few extra weeks but not in this case as it's for a disabled person.

A new model FIAT:eek: I know that they've worked to improve their reliably but even the "good" manufactures take a while to sort out the gremlins on new models

Hah, they said it was just a new grille on the Doblo.

    Fingers crossed :pac:

Must be worth waiting for it:D

If you were promised 15 weeks on paper I would try to knock few hundreds or more off the original price. That is sad when you want to spend so much money on a new car and got nothing in return for weeks.

Family member qualifies for a Primary Cert. That will entitle them to a refund of vrt & vat.

If you bring the original price down this would reduce the amount they had to pay regardless of VRT / VAT rebate.

Don't worry about the taxes, it is the amount your relative has to pay that counts.

I can understand there could be a delay (boats delayed cancelled etc) but you should be informed of your collection date if tis happens.
If they keep saying "We don't know" this is not good enough.

You need to look at the paperwork first, though.

Still no word on delivery from dealer.

The buyer feels that the dealer has given the car to somebody else. To check if this is the case or not I need to find out how many of this model have been registered in 2015.

Surely CarTell/Revenue/Transport etc. can upload a table weekly with the make/models of cars registered.

Does anybody know if any of the above provide this information and if so have a link to it?
