Bike Servicing / Cleaning

Lazy question I know, but are there any bike shops who as part of a service will clean your bike too!? (or is it a common thing they'll offer?)

Yes I know I should be able to service it myself and take the time to clean it, but parenthood takes a good chunk out of the day and I'd rather be out for a spin than cleaning/tuning the thing!

On a separate but possibly linked note, what's the most likely cause of a front derailleur being jammed on the big ring? My guess is that it might be the dirt from the first question?

    Thanks!

Thanks, sounds pricey! Assume it might need to be their € 150 gold service to get that option?

The bike shop in Belfield offer a valet service from €20, separate to a service but that can be done too. Info here. Haven't used them but would be interested to hear any feedback if you do, the commuter could use a bit of a polish and I don't think I'd get away with doing that one in the bath (joys of apartment living).

I use those guys for annual servicing, and use them as my LBS. I find them very good, and very capable. They seem to know their stuff. A service is usually about €20, depending on parts required. I would be surprised if they don't do a great job.

Do you mean wash it, or do you mean total degrease and re-lube?

Topbike in Clontarf do a premium service for about 70 quid where they de- and re-grease hubs, BB, fork etc.

Don't really know to be honest! I just know it looks kinda manky and I'm lazy about servicing it! It's 2012 and only 5K km on it.

    Babywipes in that case

Use a fresh baby wipe for each part of the frame. So a wipe for each side of the front forks etc

Baby wipes are great for cleaning not just poo, bike will be spotless excluding the drive chain in 5-10 minutes :D
