    Hi all,

In the market for a new vehicle. At the moment, I'm currently looking at a Dacia duster, 4wd version and a Mitsubishi ASX.

    Looking to buy new.

Have a car worth 2500 for trade plus 5k cash. Will be going finance for the rest.

Coming from mid sized petrol cars all my life, and sick of not having much room when driving. I'm 6ft 1, and I think I want to treat myself to something good.

I was also looking at the Kuga, Mokka and quashqai. Sadly, all 3 are slightly above budget.

any alternative suggestions? I'm based in cork. Not interested in second hand cars, or anything from a non dealers. (Had way too many negative experiences in the past)

I think your options are limited to pretty much what you mentioned on your budget if you want brand new.

You could chance your arm and see if Nissan with do the €4000 scrappage deal on a Qashqai. You'd have €9000 against it.

4wd Qashqai starts at around €30k though.

Yeah, but €9k off it means he's financing €21k.

He said the Nissan is slightly above budget, so maybe if he got the extra €1500 in scrappage, it might make it viable.

You would get a new 1.2TSI 105 bhp Skoda Octavia in Ambition spec for that money. They are doing 0% finance as well at the moment which helps & its a decent size car/driving position for a tall person

Yes but then its a 1.2 engine in a car the size of an octavia.

I'm biased as I drive a Lancer diesel but how anyone could consider a Duster when an ASX is an option for them is beyond me.

Admittedly the ASX is 2WD but I imagine you don't require the 4wd capability of the Duster anyway.

If they are absolutely over budget, then obviously thy're out, but you are looking at spending quite a whack of money IMO. I see no point spending that kind of money and going 95% of the way etc and then not getting a car that you really want.

Turns out the Qashqai is included in the scrappage deal, so you do have €9k off the list price.
Don't forget the €1000 delivery charge that's not included though.

Test drove both there on Friday. Have to admit, the ASX has more power, but the overall feel of the car just doesn't match up with be price tag. I love Mitsubishi, but I don't feel the ASX is up to their standards.

Went to see a Nissan dealer, finance works out too much per month for what I'm looking for.

Decided with the duster. Put 5k cash down, got 2.5 for my lancer, and financed the rest.

Got a pretty nice deal, picked up a 142 4x4 version for 18k. 5km on the clock, so it's un used. Took out extra 2 year warranty taking the full price to 18,500, and financed
