    Hi,

I'm currently a Primary school teacher but would love to get into lecturing. Done an MA in History prior to doing the h-dip. Recently applied for a assistant lecturer position and saw that the first point on the salary scale was considerably less than I earn at present. Does anyone know if I would have to take the pay cut? or seen as they are both public sector jobs would I retain the same salary?

Different job, different salary. As far as I know, you'd have to take the hit.

Check if you'd be entitled to incremental credit from your current job. Sometimes it can be. Best to ask new payroll
