NCT fail emissions

    Hi all
    My 00 toyota corrala just failed nct on emissions for 2nd time
    well post bought results below.

    I know oxygen sensor in the car is 2nd out of golf which mite be causing some of the problems.
    Also it fond of a drop of oil.

    Any advice on what to do. Presume first thing do would be change sensor.

    There is few months between the two tests.
    The Car has being serviced before 2nd test , diptiane was also added and driven hard to test center.

    Ah is it time to give up on the :(

    1st test

    Low idle
    ( 690 rpm)

    Engine/Oil Temp 94c
    CO 0.58% fail
    HC 170ppm

    High idle
    (2.910)
    Lambda 1.01 pass
    CO 0.40% fail
    HC 105PPM


    2nd Test
    Engine/ oil temp 80c

    Low Idle
    (720 rpm)
    CO 0.19% pass
    HC 108PPM

    High idle
    (3/170 rpm)
    Lambda 1.17 fail
    CO 0.18 % pass
    HC 162PPM

    If it is fond of a drop oil that is your problem.

    Probably means the piston rings are worn on it, which causes oil to get into the cylinders and burn off with the petrol, which will cause more emissions than normal to come out through the exhaust.

    In other words....replacement engine!!!

    was really hoping that wasn't going to be the case
    It has always being heavy on oil but has passed the nct before

    Hole in the exhaust or the lambda out of the golf is no good. Maybe a vacuum leak also.

    HC reading isn't too bad and co passed. That means the cat is working and the oil burning is not really an issue.

    So there mite be some hope so.
    Did change that it passed on the stuff failed on last time and passed on the lambda 1st time but failed this time
