I may have been overpaid. Is that my fault or social welfares?

I made a jobseekers claim a few weeks ago, when I got paid they gave me more than the usual rate of 188, just over 300. I asked in the welfare office if that was meant to happen and the guy just said its no bother, and that i was just being backdated since the claim, so I just assumed that was that it was ok.

Now they contacted me and want practically all the documents I gave them at the time I made the claim and said I am being assessed.

I've done everything by the rules and they even gave me a letter stating that they decided I am entitled to receive allowance until I find employment, which I am pursuing.

Does this usually happen? I'm just worried now that it looks like I've done something wrong when I have declared all income, taxes, last day worked etc. everything they asked me to bring I've given it to them.

If I have to refund the overpayment then I will obviously do it, but I don't want them to think I tried to fleece the system when I didn't even expect to get extra money from them.

Were you switching between benefit and allowance?

No just allowance, plus I declared everything to them and they said everything was in order, I gave them P45 and showed everything they requested.

It could just be a quality assurance thing. If you haven't left anything out you haven't anything to worry about. :)
