Phone calls between solicitors

    Hello
I have an ongoing case regarding probate. Last week my solicitor (€200 per hour) informed me that he'd received a phone call from the opposing sides brief a few days previous. To put it in a nutshell the other guy was delivering a veiled threat through my brief. I told my solicitor that I wanted him to write to the other guy and inform him that no more phone calls would be accepted by my guy and that the only acceptable form of communication would be letter or email. My guy more or less refused to do this this telling me that that courts later on would "want to see that both solicitors had made every effort to solve the case". Personally I think this is BS. Both of them seem to me to be dragging the thing out. Additionally I prefer to see everything in writing.

So why would it harm my case later if my brief had not taken phone calls from the other firm?

Seeking legal advice in relation to ongoing matter. Whether or not there is current litigation, there is a threat of litigation in the background, at least.
