Statistically war fatality has decreased significantly since 1945.

It has been so for millennia. We just have mass coverage by media in real time nowadays.
    Relax, it's nothing new.

even when you include Korea, Vietnam, Nigeria, Iran-Iraq , Congo Wars it's still diminishing.

The big difference is how much time the media spends promoting terrorism. A lot more people including journalists might be alive if the media had just reported that ISIS had killed them rather than keep showing pictures and reports of exactly what happened.

IMHO Facebook are pure scum and they should be put on trial for being "accessories after the fact"

    Russia are still cnuts.

Yeah, look at what they've done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria in the past ten years whlle waging their war of terror.

    Oh wait...

Interesting although I would say 'don't shoot the messenger'. I think suicide and obesity related diseases are the big killers in modern societies.

Just think of it this way.

Every minute of every hour of every day. Somewhere around the world there is:

    Someone getting:

    Murdered
    Raped
    Assaulted
Beaten to with in an inch of their life
    Human trafficked
Children being molested and raped repeatedly
Parents looking for their missing children
Dogs and humans being burned alive
    Women stoned to death
Not to mention all the other vile stuff humans do to each other and to animals too.

    We are worse than animals.

Ukraine. There is a region called Crimea which they have violently seized.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,147 ✭✭✭PizzamanIRL

And what are they trying to achieve by all the senseless killing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,934 ✭✭✭MarkAnthony

Not everyone is armed yet, as soon as they are all crime, everywhere, will stop.

It was not violently seized. Life is good in Crimea right now. Eastern Ukraine is where the war is and it's horrible.

A good article breaking it down on our perception it's getting worse versus the real statistics of it.

Yeah there is, its always been this way and now we get bombarded with news from all over the globe 24/7

Imo the world is too big to pay attention to all that's going on, there's just too much information.

Ukraine. There is a region called Crimea which they have violently seized.

It was not violently seized. There wasn't a shot fired in anger when Russian troops secured the peninsula after a pro-NATO a movement in Kiev containing far right and ultra nationalist elements violently overthrew a democratically elected government.

The people of Crimea, the majority of whom see themselves as Russian, later voted overwhelmingly to be reunited with Russia.

The area is at peace now, in stark contrast with Novorossiya.

The world isn't dramatically more dangerous now than it has been on average throughout history.

Still worth noting that the entire death toll from conflicts around the world in 2014 amounted to about as many who would have died on an average day of world war two.

With the exception of the last two, one of the rest could be happening in Ireland right now. :(

If you ever read the comments on the MSN news site from english thugs they go on about getting rid of Muslims from Britain and what not and rant about terrorism yet they would never rant about British terrorism in N.Ireland and how their army worked alongside terrorists.

I understand the point you are making, but 1945 is probably not a good starting point, being a particularly bad year.

    Try the full sentence.
Whoever, knowing that an offense against the United States has been committed, receives, relieves, comforts or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent his apprehension, trial or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.

Terrorists have commuted offences against the US. FB allow videos of their actions to be posted. What they could have done was tracked them back, what they should have done at the very least was warn people that posting stuff was instant ban forever and that info would be passed to the authorities.

It's pretty much the same way that news stations have blood on their hands because whenever they show school shootings or suicides etc. stats show that there are usually a few of copycats after several days of national coverage.

But media outlets competing for audience and profit share have increased expotentially through hysterical, clickbaity headlines, inaccurate, biased reporting with an agenda and often resorting to out and out lies. Take everything you read with a pinch of salt and think critically. Don't get sucked into the hype.

I quoted the part that stated the necessary intent. On ethics I agree, but the link you posted does not support that charge.
