Rewiring Soldering Station plug

Hey, I'm looking for a bit of advice about rewiring a soldering station I bought from the US. It was the Weller WESD51d (the second 'd' is important). This 'second d' version is a 220V version despite being bought from the US and also says 50/60hz on the back of the power unit.

It has a type b US plug on it. I've looked up this plug online and it has a live neutral and earth wire (as evident from the three pins on the plug). I would assume, but would rather get some reassurance, that it would be ok to lop off the type b plug and wire in a regular IE/UK plug. Seeing as it can operate at 50Hz and is 220V should this be ok?

    Any and all help appreciated.
