    My tenant recently contacted
me for my pps number to claim back his rental tax credit. He moved in in 2013 and I have filed tax returns etc so all above board. He asked could he say he was living there in 2012 as his last landlord wasn't paying tax and won't give him their pps number, i lived there then so can't let him do that as my tax returns wouldn't match, I told him he didn't need other landlords pps? Is that true, also they had claimed at the start of 2012 for the previous 4 yrs so I'm not sure he needs to reapply or the credit just carries forward? He is from Eastern Europe and asked for my advise on this

The form as it is presently says in the notes relating to the PPS or Tax Registration Number of Landlord or Agent - "If this number is known or available to you please insert in the box overleaf. If unknown, please leave blank."

I don't think this is new since 2012 so he should be able to claim for 2012 even without the old landlord's PPS.

You cannot claim rent relief since 2012....plus you cannot lie that they lived there in 2012 as this is committing fraud which Revenue come down heavy on....seems you are well rid of your old tenant...
