Hi everyone, would anyone have any info on the best way to go about becoming a driver for An Post delivering? An email or a number for someone that's in the know? Or a post man I could talk to..I'm qualified plumber/pipefitter but sick of working for 6months and off for 3 if ya get me...really long hours and always far from home getting tough now that I have baby no2 coming. Any info or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You have to wait until there are openings (unless you know the Postmaster perhaps). AFAIK, its a job with An Post and you may be in the post office or driving or in another part of the system.

Why dont you drop into your local post office and talk to the postmaster or your postman could give you some info.

Drivers in An Post are essentially Postmen on driving duties (be that collections, deliveries or whatever)

So first step is get into An Post as a postman...

I think most staff these days firstly do casual work in the summer or at Christmas and then eventually get to apply for postal vacancies..

Long road to becoming a driver (even after you get in..)

    Best of luck.

you certainly wont walk into a driving job with an post ,unless in a really rural area and are a local with all local knowledge, even then its rare . and it usually part time to start off,and could mean working nights
