Morning, I replaced the battery in my car yesterday as the old one was giving trouble starting and its been in the car since 2011...battery light was on. So I went to start to car to nip down to the shops it's started on the first turn of the key but I noticed the battery light is flicking on the dashboard is this normal?

No. You need to check the alternator.

also check battery terminals that the are clean and tight. the flicking battery light is indicating not charging. if you put a volt meter on battery with engine running it should be reading higher than 13.6 volt typically it will be 14 volts or a little above depending on how charged the battery is.

battery light tells you the alternator is not charging it..my guess is you bought a battery when you didnt need one and the real prob ios your alternator

Sounds like alternator brushes are failing from that description

Turns out it was the voltage regulator on the alternator, guy just replaced the regulator and working perfect...all in 50 euro.
