Hi folks, which option would you choose between those listed below? There are other options for both on the day - these are the 'second' option of the starter and dessert courses. Thanks a mill for any ideas/ advice.

    Starters:
    A) Parma ham salad, baby beans, red onion with blue cheese dressing OR B) Warm blue cheese and caramelised onion tart, hazelnut and fig compote, rocket pesto

    Desserts:
    C) Apple and blackberry crumble with bourbon vanilla ice cream
OR D) Apple and almond tart with vanilla ice cream

Uhh starters is a tough one so it is...

    I can see the dilemma...

oh starters a) sounds the better to me... b) sounds a bit same, same you always see that on the menu

and for Dessert I would go for C) was going to say D) at first but a lot of people don't like almond.. So defo C)

Mmm I was hungry before I started this now I want pie

A and D, would rather avoid filling up on pastry in a starter. Also, almonds are delicious :D

B & C, but blue cheese is an extremely risky ingredient. In an ideal world, I'd seek an option that doesn't have blue cheese because so many people absolutely loathe it.

B and C for me, but as mentioned above some people hate blue cheese to the point of not wanting to smell it from someone else's plate, so maybe they would do something similar with a mild goat's cheese (less likely to offend!)?

Big +1 on this, blue cheese can be very overpowering flavour wise and would certainly turn me off.

Burd and I are looking at our taster menu ourselves and one of the options is portobello mushroom stuffed with goats cheese. Herself loves goats cheese but its one of those things that, like blue cheese, alot of people wont eat, so we decided to go without.

Re the desert, definitely option D.

Definitely C for dessert but neither starter, I'm allergic to cheese ;)

Plus if you have any pregnant guests, blue cheese is a no no.

Just to add to my choice. .my other half hates strong cheese and even has a hard time sitting near me when I eat blue cheese and I often get the same reaction from other people. So maybe the blue might not be best option for the starters. Also can be said regarding the almond desert you either love or loathe them.

    A & D for me.

I had no idea almond was one of those love it or hate it things!
I'd go a for starter since a blue cheese dressing is less offensive than cheese in a tart. I'd choose b for dessert but would be perfectly happy if it was a either. Food sounds lovely btw! Best of luck!

Neither starter for me - I'm one of those people who would rather leave the room than sit at a table full of people eating blue cheese. Ick :(
    Dessert C sounds yummy.

Bleurgh, I hate blue cheese so I wouldn't order either of the first options. I think I'd go for an extended loo break if there was blue cheese on everyone's plate! Gross.

    A & C for me please :) :pac:

I love both options and couldn't pick... However, would point out as others, that I know many people dislike blue cheese. If you're going for the tartlet option, you may be able to swap the blue cheese for goats cheese, which while also not being liked by everyone and being strong in taste, IMO is more widely tolerated than blue cheese.

I have to laugh at men and the mention of almond or nuts. Himself is always like pfff that's horrible if you tell him there are nuts in it, if you don't it is half n half. A lot of men say they don't like nuts!! Makes you wonder doesn't it :)

If there's no choice of starter than A.
Blue cheese is one of those love it or loathe it ingredients and for a large crowd that's not really fair. If it was goats cheese I'd choose that one.

Desert, I'd go with C. The blackberries will make the desert a bit more special and hotel crumble tends to be better than tart in my experience.

I think the B starter sounds amazing, but I agree that many people will not want blue cheese.

I am not a desert lover, so I would pick whatever my boyfriend wanted cause he'd be eating it :D Either of those sounds good, but I hate eating blackberries or raspberries when you can't brush your teeth immediately afterwards! Seeds always get stuck :o
