possible to blow up head shot and keep pic quality?

    Hi,

    Im wondering if it is possible to blow up a head shot picture and keep the quality the same? its prob not possible but said i would ask the question in case there is any magical software out there?:)

    You can enlarge a picture somewhat before you noticeably degrade the image but it would depend on the original image size and how big the enlargement would be.

    Have a look at the data from the original image and see how many pixels you have to work with.

    For example if the original was 4000 x 3000 pixels and the crop was about 5% of the width and 10% of the height you would end up with an image of 200 x300 pixels. You will be able to get away with a print resolution of 150 dpi or maybe down to about 100 dpi. The end print would be up to 2" by 3"

    So it all depends on the original resolution and the size of the crop.

    I would hazzard a guess and say that your are trying to use an image off facebook / internet and print it?

    If it is for professional use, your better off trying to contact the photographer and getting a print from them, or getting / buying the highres file for your own printing.
