The letters "RTE" and the word "comedy" are usually mutually exclusive, but even by those standards their latest attempt, Hey Ho Let's Go, an attempt at a music related game show similar to BBC's Never Mind The Buzzcocks, is staggeringly shi*e.

Nonentity presenter, nonentity guests and panellists, with the honourable exception of the singer from Ham Sandwich, although she barely opened her mouth all through the show. Laugh? I smiled once. If they had actually gone for a straight up imitation of Never Mind The Buzzcocks it might at least have been entertaining as a quiz, but it was obvious that they decided to simply do away with the quiz element altogether and just play it as a straight farce. Which it was, except that "farce" in the theatrical sense is meant to be entertaining. This may actually be RTE's worst programme ever, and that's some achievement.

If "never mind the buzzcocks" is Britain and "hey ho lets go " is Ireland....what does that say about us?
